The wedding ceremony took place on the 16th December 2011; it was a beautiful day and the hall was covered in white and bathed with the morning sun. We were lucky enough to have came across SDCC’s rooftop garden – think open marbled space with tall french windows that opens to a wooden patio overlooking the golf course. It really is a breathtaking sight. We were actually one of the first to ‘bless’ the area as a wedding venue.
As promised, here are some photos of the akad nikah dress Syomir crafted for me. The lace was sourced by yours truly but the beadwork was done by Syomir and team. I would definitely recommend Syomir as a designer not least because of his workmanship, but mostly for his professionalism (well, I say he’s professional but he’s a hoot as well if you let him be!). That’s hard to find in KL. My advice to any future brides is to do your research. Don’t just rely on recommendations – you need to know what you want, or at least what you don’t want in a dress. Each designer has their own signature style, or preferred silhouette. KNOW IT! If they tend to do over-the-top tulle and ruffles dresses, they’re not going to be too happy designing a classic tube dress and you won’t be either! You don’t go into a Versace store looking for a neutral colour block shirt now do you?
Will be posting a few more photos detailing each of the reception dresses soon. Stay tuned!
