Love: Burnt Orange

In OOTD, Want List on January 4, 2013 at 6:07 pm

It’s super raining over here and it’s causing the little man a bit of stress. He’s trying to sleep but keeps getting frightened by the thunder. Even I’m a bit freaked out!!! All this just means that I won’t be able to make it to the gym, again. I now see why mothers struggle to keep up with their own appearance – every bit of their time goes to the kids and husband! Sheesh.

Oh well, in the mean time, here’s a bit of burnt orange to brighten up this dark evening. Yes, this is an almost 1 year old picture and hence not how I look now – I went a bit crazy with the highlights after the pregnancy and will reveal that in due course – but I wanted to remind myself to dig up this awesome skirt I got from Asos in one of my boxes. We’re currently nomads, the three of us, as our home is still in an inhabitable state. Speaking of burnt orange, (I secretly like saying the word ‘burnt orange’ hence am consciously using it every chance I get) I am on the fence on this pencil skirt from 3.1 Phillip Lim. Should I?!

Last Goodbye

In OOTD on September 12, 2012 at 12:49 am

Dinner tonight at Chynna with the in-laws. I find that my enthusiasm to dress is slowly being taken over by the tempting lure of stretchy yoga pants, oversized t-shirts and sweats. They’re just so darn comfortable! Having said that I’m trying to maximise what little time I have left with my skinnies whilst I can thanks to this neat trick some pregnant women through google taught me – that is to just leave the buttons and zipper undone and tie a ribbon/rubberband/rope through the button hole and loop it over the jean button. Genius!

I got this H&M canary dress as I thought I needed some colour in my closet. There’s also one in fuchsia pink that looks amazing against fair skin. It was a bit chilly so I wore the dress under my J. Crew striped top and pulled everything together with a skinny belt. Done for the day.

Today’s outfit. I’ve been wearing a lot of white lately.

Knitted sweater from Cos, True Religion jeans and a bag that I’m perpetually borrowing from Dahlia.

Marbled Backdrop

In OOTD on February 26, 2012 at 10:18 pm

I’d never really noticed how amazing my place is for photography ops. I see this gorgeous marbled wall every time I walk out of the lobby lifts! Was at Overtime at 1 Mont Kiara to watch a friend’s pole dancing graduation. These girls are super strong and super flexible… one of them had biceps bigger than Faz and mine combined!

Anyways, the bag is Celine, the shoes are Carvela and the skirt I had tailor made for me. I tend to do this when I can’t find something I want in stores and at least this way I get to dictate exactly how I want the garment to look and fit.

Today’s outfit – Trousers and heels from Zara, and sweater from H&M. I initially wanted to pair the trousers with a grey sweatshirt but alas, I don’t have any! I then remembered that I used to steal Dahlia’s grey sweats. Boo. Looks like I need to get one of my own.

Friday Night

In OOTD, Out & About on February 11, 2012 at 4:51 am

Just got back from a short trip to Singapore over the long weekend and what better way to resume routine life than a chilled-out-late-night coffee session in town? This is at Qba at Westin – I really like the atmosphere and the fact that the background music is not blaring through the speakers. They have private rooms (as the above) for small parties of 6 – 10 people. Very cosy!

I’m wearing my new leopard print shirt from Zara and bracelets from Hermes and Thomas Sabo.

I am wearing: husband’s white t-shirt from Uniqlo, belt from Ferragamo, Zara jeans, ThirtyFour bracelet and Chanel bag.

Pantone Colour Of The Year

In OOTD on January 27, 2012 at 12:58 am

Today’s inspiration: honeysuckle. It’s such a beautifully bright colour! It’s also a very daring one but the husband’s clearly not phased by it. I’m currently looking for an equally bright and bold printed trousers and already have an eye on Textile Elizabeth & James’ spring collection. Bright neon lights! The belt is from Hermes and the sling leather bag is from H by Harris.

When There’s No One Else To Help You

In OOTD on January 14, 2012 at 11:34 pm

Do it yourself! It’s not great but it should do for now. I don’t believe in there being too much denim – it’s just a matter of marrying the right shades of denim together. Just add a bit of gold accessory to complete the look. Done!
